It’s official. Our house is now “Sale Pending.” Next step is the closing on July 17.
The day after that is my birthday. Yes, this is my birthday gift.
And then, on July 27, we hit the road to Palm Springs, CA. Goodbye, Ann Arbor, beloved home since 1987. But hello Palm Springs to be closer to David and Samantha, who live in Palm Desert, and Carrie, who lives in Las Vegas.
Competing with the War
It’s been a long time coming. We were looking at a sellers’ market as we approached launch day. We had every reason to believe—and everyone who worked with us or admired our home agreed—that we would sell the house quickly. Our realtor teased us with thoughts that we might attract a bidding war and end up with a price higher than our asking.
Then the Orange Monster had his own launch. It happened literally the same day—give or take a day—that we put the house on the market. The war crashed the housing market.
Suddenly, it was a buyers’ market.
We lowered our asking price. We lowered it again. We painted. We reinforced the drainage system in the basement—the buyer will never have to worry about a leak! And more. The house is move-in ready.
So now the blitz is on. We’re already about eighty percent packed. Boxes line the basement far wall and the garage ready to move into the POD when we order it. One POD: That’s our plan.
Join Us to Say Farewell
One more plan: We can’t visit everyone we would like to see one last time. There just isn’t enough time. So we’re hosting a farewell party Tuesday July 21 from 6:30 to 9:30 at our favorite neighborhood pub:
Fraser’s, 2045 Packard, Ann Arbor
We hope you’ll join us.
Ann Arbor has been a great home. We’ll miss our many friends.
But we will have a guest room in our new home. We hope you’ll visit.
Love,
Ken and Emily
